Dear Association Members and Public High School Driver Education Instructors,

“Can instruction for driver education continue during Remote Learning Days?”

“The classroom portion of a driver education program may be completed through remote/distance learning, but the 6-hour behind the wheel portion of driver education programs must be suspended for the duration of the mandatory suspension of in-person instruction. We are not looking to make additional changes that might compromise health or safety.”

The Executive Committee of the IHSCDEA has been working with representatives of ISBE, ISOS, IEA, IFT and other government officials this past week to help our members with questions and resources for E-Learning and remote learning strategies. The Association is glad to hear that the efforts of teachers of all disciplines will be able to keep Illinois students up to date with their education in this difficult and strange time. The IHSCDEA leadership is also currently working with various state officials and groups to provide additional support and resources for the BTW backlog once we return to school. We will keep you posted on this progress.

Please continue to monitor our website Facebook and Twitter pages for updates. You might also receive announcements via mail chimp from our Legislative Task Force and Executive Committee.
